A mother-daughter trip to Paris

Cathy and Jenna Moxley visited for a week and we had a wonderful time catching up and taking in the sights, sounds and smells of Provence! Cathy and I met when I moved to Washington in 1990 and our daughters have been friends since they were newborns. We spent five days exploring Provence and then a memorable weekend in Paris.

Our first day in Paris was all about SHOPPING!

Teenagers in training

We went to the tippy top of the Eiffel Tower at 8pm....what a thrill to see the lights of Paris! We had dinner at a wonderful bistro at 10pm, but Mallory fell asleep before her dinner arrived!

It was tres froid at the top!!!!

Mallory's favorite painting at the Musee D'orsay

I enjoyed all of the Impressionist paintings, especially this masterpiece of Mont Sainte-Victoire by Paul Cezanne

Mallory and I teared up when we saw the Degas dancers. Mallory has several books on Degas paintings and sculptures and kept running around the exhibit saying, "this is my favorite....no, THIS is my favorite!" There were so many familiar paintings that I have loved over the years that it literally took my breath away to see the originals.

Cathy and Julie starting to look a "wee bit" sleepy!

Mallory and Jenna....ready for round 2!!!

Before we went to Paris, we enjoyed several days in and around Aix.....

Julie organized a day at a vineyard and lunch in Cassis with several girlfriends:
Sylvie, Cathy, Anja, Tessa, Sandra (with baby Gijs), Julie, Samantha and Sydia
Friends in Cassis, on the Mediterranean Sea
Cathy and Sydia with a fresh catch of sea urchin, a true Provencal delicacy

We enjoyed a lovely day in Lourmarin, with dreams of lavender and sunflower seasons to come!
We hope Cathy and Jenna will visit again - it was such a fun and memorable trip!!!!
